As many as 30-40 construction staff and contractors are working on our Tamahere site at the moment and that number will only grow as our project accelerates.
Overseeing them all is our efficient Construction Manager Ruari Dickson who keeps a close eye on everything from finishing homes to fencing. He is responsible for organising and scheduling all tradesmen and materials and takes great pride in upholding the Sanderson Group’s high standards.
“I try to hold others to the same standard I set for myself,” he explains. “Having worked for Sanderson Group for almost eight years, I know the standard that is expected and less than this will not suffice. Constant communication is key on any project and goes hand in hand with planning and setting realistic targets and goals for staff and contractors.”
Ruari was born in Ireland but raised in Scotland where he gained trade qualifications in joinery and carpentry. He now has over 15 years’ experience and has moved from Tauranga to Tamahere to be as close as possible to our village. While he’s enjoying living in the Waikato, he says the winter weather is proving to be the biggest challenge on site so far!
“Every day is different and can present different challenges. I love the sense of achievement and being able to watch the project as it progresses while still maintaining the high Sanderson standard.”
When he’s not working, Ruari enjoys watching and playing any sport he can. “Recently most of my spare time has been spent at the golf course. I also enjoy the outdoors, mainly spending time at the beach or in the surf.”
